Sometimes a drink doesn't work even though it sounds great on paper. Case in point - Dressler's (149 Broadway, Williamsburg) American Poet. The ingredients should have been a home run: Woodford Reserve, Rhubarb Amaro, Absinthe & sweet vermouth. Yet somehow, the drink came out all wrong. Perhaps it was the execution, but it was completely out of balance, a boozy mess. It was also served in a tall glass with ice - something akin to a rum and coke. That alone was a curious choice for a drink that should be served up in a proper vessel. For now, we recommend you pass on this drink and order a Brooklyn, assuming they actually have amer picon.
